Venomous Affection

I dug my heel into The Teacher when he was down, and he applauded my actions.
When I murdered my father and overthrew the king, he said they deserved it.
I told him I was insane, and he replied that he was too.
I claimed my heart was as venomous as a viper's, and he said he adored venomous beauties.
I didn't believe him.
When I stood atop the city wall, arrow aimed at his heart, he dismissed his hundred thousand elite soldiers and willingly offered me his life.
In that moment, I believed.
He was the only person in the world who truly loved me.
