I always knew I was a social climber. Other mothers warned their children to be strong and self-respecting.
But from a young age, my mom's guidance had been, 'Emma, you must use that pretty face of yours to marry a rich man.'
Of course, I didn't disappoint my mother's expectations—I even surpassed them.
