Heart's Deceptive Innocence

My ex-boyfriend was hit by a falling object from a great height, causing brain damage and regressing his mental capacity to that of an eight-year-old.
When he asked me to help him shave, I endured it for the money's sake.
When he wanted hugs and goodnight kisses, saying he saw other kids on TV getting them, I endured it.
When he was afraid of the dark and wanted to sleep in my bed, for the money's sake... I still endured it.
But when he stole my slimming stockings!
That I really couldn't endure!
